BULL RIDING
One of rodeo’s more dangerous and exciting events, cowboys must ride a bucking bull for 8 seconds with nothing more than a bull rope to hold on to. Bulls can be more difficult to ride than horses because of their very loose hides.
This is a scored event. Judges score the rider’s control and the bull’s bucking. Spurring, while not required, can enhance scoring. If a rider is thrown before 8 seconds, or if he touches the bull with his free hand, the cowboy is eliminated. A perfect 100 has never been awarded in the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association.
